Small Talk. Why You Should Be Good At It.

You have a work or networking function.  You have to go.  You know you will not know a single soul there.  Cue the "I have a headache" excuse.

You know you will have to walk into a room full of people you don't know and initiate conversation.  This is daunting to most people.  Especially when you walk in and EVERYBODY seems perfectly engaged in absorbing conversation with someone else and there you are....standing alone.  Oh the embarrassment!

It doesn't have to be that way.  There are an infinite number of ways to choose a person to engage with and start a conversation with that person.  There are also very specific tools you can use to keep a conversation going....you know, avoiding the dreaded "awkward silence".
